Second Annual Babcock Date Auction Raises Nearly $3,000

Babcock Women In Business along with the Babcock Marketing Association and the Entrepreneurship Club hosted the second Annual Date Auction on Saturday, April 5, in conjunction with The Garage. Twenty full-time students donated their time and a “date” to help raise close to $3,000 for charity and club programming.

Dates ranged from a “Mustaches and Martinis Party” to a ride in a 1967 Mercedes convertible to a game of croquet. The Garage donated 10 percent of its bar revenues and the rental fee for the event. Fifty percent of the funds raised will be donated to Arts for Life, a non-profit organization that provides daily visual art, music, photography, and creative writing lessons, and art support groups to children, adolescents, and young adults battling cancer, life-threatening diseases, and other disabilities.

“We chose Arts for Life as our charity because of Devi Eddins’ work with them and because we wanted to give back to the arts community since The Garage was supporting our event” said Sarah Hemphill, MBA ’08 and BWIB member.
